Welcome to the

Homeschool Speaking Club

The Homeschool Speaking Club’s goal is to develop the public speaking and leadership skills of Southern California homeschoolers aged 10 and up. (Serious-minded younger ones are welcome too.) We welcome homeschoolers of every stripe. We have independent homeschoolers and families who have joined different public and private school programs. We are a very diverse group. Everyone is welcome.

Though mentored by adults who conduct periodic training segments, the meetings are run by the kids themselves.

Meetings are held on first and third Thursdays from 10:00am - 11:30am in the South Bay (click here for location) and the meeting format is similar to that of Toastmasters International.

We welcome visitors to the group to “check us out.” If your child decides to join, there is a modest tuition fee to complete our Level I
program which usually takes
6 months to a
year to complete. Further levels also have a tuition attached. Contact us for more information on the tuition.

About our Club

Bypassing or conquering a fear
of public speaking can set kids
up to succeed on many levels in life. Public speaking develops leadership, organizational, and critical-thinking skills. In addition, employers consistently rank public speaking and related communication skills as one of the top skills they look for in employees.

"We love the speakers club.  All the kids are well organized and accepting of everyone.  No snickering when someone says something weird.  Julia is great about guiding the group without "running" the meetings.  The kids do it all.  What a great experience for our kids.  Hopefully they will grow up confident in front of a group instead of terrified, like most people."

Patty B. (Parent)

"This is one of the most worthwhile activities I have ever signed my daughter up for. The skills she is learning will benefit her for a lifetime"

Heather B. (Parent)

“I think it is so important for kids to be comfortable speaking in front of a group.  It's great that they have this opportunity to develop and improve on this vital skill while they are so young.”

Candee F. (Parent)
